The ears are very good for certain types of data analysis. They are expert at picking up correlations and repetitions of various sorts ... This sensitivity to repetition can be helpful, not only for data analysis, but for keeping track of programs running in the background. [Bregman, A (1994) pXX].

The research reported on in this seminar is being undertaken as part of the recently established Sonic Communications Research Group (SCRG), in particular as part of a planned Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage project currently entitled Sonification of the Foreign Exchange Markets.
