(SCRG)


The Sonic Communications Research Group is a constituent of the Area of Research Strength Communication, Media and Cultural Studies

SCRG commenced 2004 under funding from an Australian Research Council Discovery Grant 2004-6  (Dean, Smith, and Stevens) and University of Canberra Area of Research Strength Funds 2003-4


Current and Recent Events
Mitchell Whitelaw's stimulating new book 'Metacreation: Art and Artificial Life' (MIT Press, 2004) was launched at the National Gallery of Australia on 29 May 2004, with introductory remarks by Roger Dean.

'Mind your Body', a sonification/audio work by austraLYSIS' Dean and White, members of the Sonic Communications Research Group, together with David Worrall, also of the group, is to be heard in a concert at the Studio of the Sydney Opera House, on July 8 2004. It was selected with 9 other works from a call for submissions made by the International Conference on Auditory Display, which this year takes place in Sydney from 6-9 July 2004. The concert is called 'Listening to the Mind Listening'; tickets from the Opera House on + 61 2 9250 7777 or by the web.
